Brain Tumor

Brain tumors may be benign or malignant. Benign tumors include meningiomas,
acoustic schwannoma, pituitary adenoma, choroid plexus papilloma, epenoymoma,
and some gliomas. Malignant tumors include many gliomas and metastatic
tumors (arising elsewhere in the body and spreading to the brain).
Symptoms
Tumors produce various symptoms depending on their location within the
brain. Common symptoms include headache, weakness, numbness, and seizure.
Treatment
Some brain tumors may be treated successfully exclusively with surgery.
Many - even some benign tumors - are best treated by combinations of surgery,
stereotactic radiosurgery, and at times chemotherapy. Conventional radiotherapy
is an important adjunct in the treatment of malignant brain tumors.
