One of our unique areas of expertise relates to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and dysautonomias such as POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardic Syndrome) and NMH (Neurally Mediated Hypotension). While we do not treat these disorders, we examine patients with these problems in order to determine if they may have an underlying neurological problem which would explain their symptoms. Frequently, we discover these patients to have cervical myelopathy due to Chiari I malformation or spinal stenosis. These patients are put through an extensive multidisciplinary work up. Those patients that meet certain criteria may be helped by surgery to correct the Chiari malformation or relieve the spinal stenosis. Others may be helped by non-surgical treatments. For further information on our work in this area, please go to our Research and News & Media pages.
