Treatment of Compressive Cervical Myelopathy in Patients with Fibromyalgia:
A Prospective Outcome Study
Sponsored in part by DePuy AcroMed
This study is designed to assess the long-term effect of surgery on patients
with regard to their symptoms of fibromyalgia and cervical myelopathy.
The goal of the study is to learn if the treatment of these patients'
myelopathy minimizes or resolves their symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.
Surgical and non-surgical patients are asked to complete questionnaires
monitoring their own assessments of their symptoms and health, emotional
well-being, and quality of life at three, six, nine, twelve, and twenty-four
months post-initial evaluation.
Participants must be at least eighteen years of age, meet the American
College of Rheumatology criteria for the diagnosis of fibromyalgia, meet
the standard neurologic criteria for cervical myelopathy, and myelopathy
must not be due to intrinsic disease of the spinal cord.
Enrollment is closed.
